Elsie May Burrows foi una botánica inglesa. Graduar pola University College en Leicester onde recibió la llicenciatura B.Sc. Casar en 1936, y tuvo el so primer puestu na Universidá de Liverpool, onde permaneció ya investigó pol restu de la so vida llaborable.
Foi miembru cofundadora del British Phycological Society y la so vicepresidenta de 1957 a 1958. En 1948, llogró'l so Ph.D. Los sos estudios principales fueron sobre la ecoloxía de macroalgas, especialmente Fucus y les algues verdes - Chlorophyta. En 1951, empezó a recoyer información pa les "Algues de les Islles Britániques". El manuscritu de borrador de la flora, completar poco primero de la so muerte; y, el llibru publicar en 1991, desafortunadamente finó antes de la so apaición. Dellos especímenes recoyíos y determinaos por ella pal Esquema de Mapeo d'Algues, güei tópense, so resguardu y curaduría del Yerbariu (BELIU) del Muséu Ulster, en Belfast, Irlanda del Norte.
