Jochen Kummerow (Alemania, 15 de abril de 1927-Corvallis, Oregón, 13 de julio de 2004) trabajó desde 1957 como botánico y fisiólogo vegetal en Santiago de Chile, posteriormente (desde 1973) hasta su jubilación en 1990 en San Diego, California, casado con Margarete Beeck, que le sobrevive.
