Macrothele est un genre d'araignées mygalomorphes de la famille des Macrothelidae.
Distribution Les espèces de ce genre se rencontrent en Asie, en Afrique et en Europe du Sud.
Habitat Ces araignées vivent dans les forêts, le long des rives des cours d'eau où elles tissent des toiles sous les troncs et les pierres.
Description Les macrothèles sont des araignées noir brillant.
Elles ont quatre filières dont deux très allongées, des denticules autour des pièces buccales et trois griffes tarsales.
