Seguì con Stones in the Road (1994) e A Place in the World (1996), che caratterizzarono i suoi maggiori singoli.
Lehndorff, John."Carpenter's new music comes from deep inside", Chicago Sun-Times, 2005-05-13. Retrieved on 2007-11-27.
Carpenter si è esibita in show televisivi come Late Night with David Letterman e Austin City Limits ed in frequenti tours, ritornando a Washington circa ogni estate esibendosi all'aperto nella via Wolf Trap.
