La fàbrica a l'é stàita fondà dël 1905 da Herbert Austin, a Longbridge (Worchestershire).

Dël 1952 la marca a l'é intrà ant la British Motor Corporation Ltd. La marca Austin a l'é stàita dovrà fin-a al 1987. Al di d'ancheuj la marca a aparten-e a Nanjing Automotive.
