A temporada de WTCC de 2011 foi a oitava temporada disputada pela FIA, sétima desde seu retorno em 2005. Ela começou com a etapa do Brasil em Curitiba, em 20 de março e terminou com a etapa de Macau no Circuito da Guia em 20 de novembro, após 24 corridas.
O campeonato teve grandes mudanças, sendo a primeira temporada sem a BMW como uma equipe oficial, os circuitos de Suzuka e Guangdong entraram no campeonato, os novos pilotos, como Pepe Oriola e Robert Dahlgren para a temporada inteira. A série perdeu o Campeonato de Fórmula Dois como um campeonato de apoio, mas foi substituído pela Auto GP. Também foi apoiada por uma nova série, que deu suporte a seis rodadas em Zolder, Monza, Brno, Donington, Oschersleben e Valência.

Mudanças no Calendário
A etapa do Brasil seria em Interlagos. Porém, problemas logísticos envolvendo as obras de renovação do autódromo mantiveram a prova em Curitiba. A etapa da China será pela primeira vez no Guangdong International Circuit. A etapa de Portugal retornou ao Circuito da Boavista. A etapa do Reino Unido muda de Brands Hatch para Donington Park. A etapa da Argentina que seria realizada no Autódromo Juan y Oscar Gálvez, foi substituída pela etapa da Bélgica, uma vez que o circuito argentino não conseguiu homologação.. A etapa de Marrocos saiu do calendário, sendo substituída pela etapa da Hungria.
