O MTV Video Music Award para Melhores Efeitos Visuais (no original em inglês: MTV Video Music Award for Best Visual Effects) é um prêmio atribuído ao artista, ao seu gerente, e aos artistas de efeitos visuais e/ou empresa de efeitos visuais do videoclipe no MTV Video Music Awards anualmente. De 1984 a 2006, o nome completo do prêmio foi Melhores Efeitos Especiais em um Vídeo, e após uma breve remoção em 2007, o seu nome foi abreviado para Melhores Efeitos Especiais entre 2008 e 2011. Em 2012, a categoria adquiriu o seu nome atual.
Os maiores vencedores são o diretor Jim Blashfield, o artista de efeitos especiais Sean Broughton, o produtor executivo Loris Paillier e a produtora GloriaFX, com duas vitórias cada. Em termos de indicações, a empresa de efeitos visuais Mathematic é a maior indicada na história da categoria (sete indicações). É seguida por GloriaFX e Ingenuity Studios (anteriormente Ingenuity Engine), cada um recebendo um total de seis indicações. Os supervisores de efeitos especiais David Yardley e Fred Raimondi, assim como as empresas Pixel Envy (liderada pelos Brothers Strause) e BUF vêm em terceiro lugar, com quatro indicações cada.
O intérprete cujos vídeos ganharam mais prêmios é Peter Gabriel, tendo ganho três prêmios. Entretanto, os vídeos de Missy Elliott receberam o maior número de indicações com seis. Nenhum Intérprete ganhou um prêmio nesta categoria por trabalhar nos efeitos de seu vídeo.
