Biografia Gaëlle Bélem nasce nel 1984 a Saint-Benoît e cresce in una famiglia modesta dove i pochi libri presenti servono soprattutto per chiudere le porte.RFI, La Réunionnaise Gaëlle Bélem raconte l’inquiétante étrangeté de son île.
Nel 2009 è diventata insegnante di storia-geografia in Île-de-France. Di ritorno a La Réunion, continua ad esercitare la professione di insegnante (di latino e di storia-geografia) prima al college poi al liceo. Insegna anche in un centro di detenzione ed è anche giudice assessore presso il tribunale per i minori.
